GP Collective Action Pack, August 2024
To: All Leeds Practices,
National GP Collective Action has begun!
The recently completed ballot of GP partners was not merely a response to the 2024/25 contract imposition but also to many years of underinvestment in General Practice, exploiting GP’s goodwill and commitment to our patients.
Current action represents a Phase 1 collective reset towards safer and sustainable working for current and future general practice.

The GP Collective Action toolkit has been developed by the BMA and provides a menu of options that have been run through the GMC, CQC, RCGP and the King’s Council. It is for each practice to pick and choose actions as you see fit.
As an LMC we have summarised the ten actions from the toolkit. We have also provided commentary on each action, so practices in Leeds are able to make an informed decision on any actions they are willing to take.
When taking action, it should be enacted across the whole practice team. The actions you choose may depend on your patients and you can choose to start slowly and build incrementally or do all of them from day one as you wish. You do not need permission to do any of these actions. They are already permissible and will not result in contract breach.
If you have any questions or comments/feedback, please get in touch with the LMC by email: mail@leedslmc.org or speak to one of the LMC Officers tel: 0113 295 1463.
Please note, the Leeds LMC Toolkit is a working document and Leeds LMC will send updates as they come through.
Best wishes,
The Leeds LMC Team
